The Forest Innovation Workshop is a biennial European initiative which promotes networking and exchanges among regions and the community of forestry and wood industry innovators and actors. The 2020 workshop edition will be hosted by the ROSEWOOD Network, a Horizon 2020 funded Coordination and Support Action which main target is the enhancement of sustainable wood mobilisation through inter-regional knowledge transfer. The "Adapting forests to climate change" symposium will be held in Toulouse, France, from 19-20 November 2019. The first day will focus on oral and poster presentations, the second will be dedicated to optional field visits in the nearby Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc. The LIFE FORECCAsT project is pleased to invite project holders, scientists and stakeholders from around Europe to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations, to be delivered at the "Adapting forests to climate change: methods, tools, and projects" symposium. Several travel grants will be awarded competitively based on the quality of abstract submission determined by an examination board. This symposium will feature a wide range of talks, discussions and networking opportunities with European experts in the field of forest adaptation to climate change. An International Summer School hosted by Waterford Institute of Technology will be held in Waterford, Ireland from 24-28 June 2019. The focus of the summer school will be on tools for protecting the forest resource from different hazards, including fire, wind, land-slides, pests, diseases and browsing herbivores. There will be talks, demonstrations, and training in the use of the latest tools and techniques for assisting modern forestry professionals. The course will include field work, laboratory training, and group activities to discuss how risk assessment can be incorporated into forest management. The workshop is primarily focussed at professional foresters, forest consultants, managers and owners, forestry policy makers, and postgraduate-level students, but anyone with an interest in developing resilient forests is welcome.
